Art

Art becomes a form of communication through the use of varied medium in which students are able to express themselves. Through art, each child is given the opportunity to develop aesthetically, socially, emotionally and intellectually.

Students will develop greater cultural and linguistic sensitivity through the study of the Spanish language.  Through foreign language education, our students will be better prepared for the multicultural and global future that awaits them.

Human Sexuality

Students learn to understand that a human person is created in the image of a life-giving and loving God.  Through Human Sexuality education children gain a positive sense of their physical development and grow in grace, wisdom, and respect for life.

Mathematics

The mastery of mathematics is achieved on a hierarchy of distinct levels.  This is done through associative learning or memorization; concept learning which represents a class of experiences; principle learning which relates two or more concepts and problem solving which is attained when the child can accommodate both principles and concepts.

Children develop an appreciation for the beauty of musical sound through the use and understanding of music symbols and terminology, participation and performance of music.  Students become acquainted with music of many periods, styles and cultures.

Religion

The basic component of our science program includes a conceptual framework through which students learn basic investigative and problem-solving methods.  Life Science, Earth Science, Physical Science and Health are areas of focus.  Science is closely integrated with other fields of study, such as writing and mathematics.

Spelling

An integrated program relates spelling to reading, language arts, speaking and listening.  The program moves from invented spelling to phonetic structural and contextual generalizations.  A systematic study method helps students spell words independently.

The students learn to understand the world around them and the ways it affects their own lives.  Students are exposed to the social skills required for effective service to others.  Geography, history, government and economics are all elements of this program.
