Substitute Teacher (Temporary)

Holy Apostles School is seeking a short-term Substitute Teacher to teach in grades 3K through 8th. The Substitute Teacher will work in the absence of our regular teachers/aides, assisting students in their daily tasks and helping ensure the understanding of the subject matter being covered. This position possesses the skills needed to cover daily instruction and run the classroom environment in an orderly fashion.

Responsibilities 

- Follow regular teacher’s lesson plans in a way that ensures consistency and optimal learning, and that encourages students to participate.
- Assign classwork and homework as necessary, according to lesson plans
- Modify teaching styles to fit the learning styles of various students
- Maintain a well-managed classroom and positive learning environment
- Supervise students out of class such as in the hallways and in the cafeteria
- Comply with all procedures, guidelines, and policies of the school at all times
- Maintain a professional attitude in all manner of conduct with students, faculty, and parents, including a commitment to confidentiality

Qualifications

The qualified candidate will be committed to the values of Catholic education, possess a valid Wisconsin teaching or substitute teaching license and be driven to meet the needs of all learners.​

Before or After School Care Assistant (Limited, Part-time)

Under the direction of the Extended Care Lead, the purpose of this position is to supervise children in the extended day care program maintain an environment that is safe, caring and welcoming to young children and their parents and is consistent with the philosophy of Holy Apostles School and Parish.

Responsibilities 

• Assist with the supervision of children. Ensures students are orderly and acting appropriately.
• Contribute to the children’s sense of self-worth as a Christian person; foster an apostolic consciousness in children and influence the spiritual development of the children
• Effectively perform activities assigned that meet the needs, interests and abilities of the children and are consistent with the philosophy of Holy Apostles School and Parish
• Create an environment that is safe, caring and welcoming to young children
• Directs movement of students to and from various areas of the building in a safe and organized manner.
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect the children, equipment, materials, and facilities
• Supervise children in proper use of school materials and equipment
• Maintain open lines of communication with children and their parents
• Responds to emergency situations (injured students, fights, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns
• Cooperate with the rest of faculty school staff
• Effectively follow all directives of the School Principal
• Provides other assistance on projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Relates well with children and parents
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
• Associate degree or comparable work experience preferred
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Ability to respond to children in all aspects; safety, movement, learning and interaction.
• Having completed or willing to complete the Safeguarding All God's Children certification
• Work both indoors and outdoors during supervision and interaction with children.
• Work hours would be 6:45 am-8:30 am and 2:45 pm – 6:00 pm. Flexible days’ work 5 days or as little as 1 day.
• School year only no holidays or weekend, summers off, perfect for older adults or retirees.

Office Helper (Volunteer)

Do you love children? Here is a perfect opportunity, one day a week to give back to the Holy Apostles community.

Responsibilities 

Tuesdays Only 3-hour or 6-hour shift, 9:00 am-12:00 pm or 12:00 pm-3:00 pm.
Help answer phones, take care of student requests, greet guests, provide badges, and most of all love to be around children.

Saturday - Sunday 6:00 am - 8:00 pm, for silent prayer but no blessed sacrament will be present in the Adoration Chapel.
